It was another boring day. Tabby had skipped out on the second half of school, opting to wander around town instead. She decided to leave Lance's jeep behind and walk for once; this, of course, had nothing to do with the fact that he was out of gas.
Tabby came upon one of her favorite coffee shops and stared in the window for a minute before going inside. Earlier in the day, she'd managed to swipe a ten off one of the jocks, so she was going to treat herself to a mocha.
After ordering her drink, Tabby took a seat at one of the small tables by the window. A glance up at the sky told her that it was probably going to rain soon; which meant she'd be getting wet later on, but there wasn't much she could do about it now.
Sighing, she took a sip of her drink and directed her gaze to the people walking along on the streets. A few would glance into the shop, one even gave her a dirty look, but they'd always continue on their way as if nothing ever happened. Tabby hated them all.
((OOC: Meh, best I could come up with. lol))

Nate was taking a ride on his motorcycle, he could tell the sky was going to pour soon but he didn't mind. He needed something to do, somewhere to go. Maybe meet some new and interesting people along the way, preferably attractive females.
His hog roared along, the young telepath took in all the sights and sounds and emotions of the city. Soon he came across this coffee shop as the cold rain fell from the sky. Nate pulled up and put the kickstand down.
Stepping inside he walked to the counter and bought a mocha, giving the cashier a $10 and told her to keep the change. Looking around he couldn't find an empty table. Walking over to her table he smiled charmingly. "Hey, this seat taken?"

Tabby's attention was removed from the people on the street when she heard someone address her; at least, she assumed they were talking to her. Turning, she found a guy who looked to be about a few years older than herself standing there with drink in hand, a smile gracing his face.
"Nope." She told him, returning the smile. Tabby had nothing better to do, so she figured she could mess with the guy if nothing else.

Nate sat beside her and smiked "lemme tell you somethin Tabby...you might find me a hard guy to mess with." Nate winked "by the way my name's Nate" he said holding out his hand. His left seemed to glow a little with yellow psionic energy briefly and quickly disappear.

Tabby just stared at the guy, confused at first; then it hit her, he was a telepath. Smirking, she sat back, arms crossed in front of her.
"You know, if I wasn't a mutant, this conversation could've turned ugly real fast." She informed him before taking another sip from her drink.

Nate chuckled and took a drink "ya I know, but I knew you were before I even approached your table. And don't worry I'll try and stay outta your head, I just figured I'd have a bit of fun of my own." He set the drink down and smiled "so tell me bit bout yourself..." he said almost seeming to mock the typical guy trying to spark a conversation.

Tabby rolled her eyes. Figured. All telepaths were alike, even Jean; going into others minds without permission, then playing it off. What a load of bull.
"Well, you already know my name." She said, eyeing him. "What more do you want?" There was no way she was going to spill her guts to a complete stranger, she wasn't that stupid.

Nate chuckled and nodded "alright I got ya, my parents told me never to talk to strangers too. Of course then they abandoned me in a boarding school because of my 'issues'." He scoffed rolling his eyes and trying to laugh it off a little. "Needless to say I'm not a very trustin person either. But that's I guess somethin you don't wouldn't care about, so whatev.." he said with a shrug and sat back drinking his mocha.

Tabby drank her mocha in silence, watching him. What? Did every mutant have issues with their parents and screwed up lives now? Or were they just the lucky few?
"I don't care if you're trusting?" Tabby asked, eyebrows raised. Well duh, she didn't know the guy. She wasn't one to just trust people off the bat, it took a long time; and even then, there's still only a select few people she actually trusts.
"You know, you're not very good with first impressions." She told him with a light laugh.

Nate nodded "I surprsingly get that alot, and meant you wouldn't care bout my issues. Course who don't got some issues with their parents. In my case it was I was a 'problem child' and people always seemed to end up with broken ribs or rendered uncocious around me...How bout you? I'm not gunna pry but...like i said everyone got parental issues. So spill..." he just gave her a friendly grin. He really wasn't trying to be intrusive, but the fact was, he was something of a social moron.

"Oh. Right." Tabby said, shrugging. He was right, she didn't care about that either. Mainly because when anyone talked about their problems, it reminded her of hers...and that wasn't exactly one of her favorite topics.
But it was too late, he'd already asked. Sighing, she looked down at her drink as she thought of something to say. But really, what was there to say, other than, 'Oh, my dad used me'.
"Yeah, I guess I was sort of a problem child too." She said shrugging, taking a sip from her drink before looking up at him. "My problem was with my father, though." Tabby told him angrily, her grip on her drink tightening slightly.

Nate nodded and sighed simply reading her body language. She obviously was still upset, and he didn't blame her. Alot of the 'acting out' he did for awhile was due to his parents. He eventually learned to just deal and move on.
"Hey sorry if I brought up any bad memories. I'm kind of I guess what you'd call socially retarded...but hey why not after coffee I take you out riding or could show you the city from a bird's eye view. Always gets my mind off my problems and puts me a ease."

"It's ok." Tabby said, waving off the apology. She supposed she'd have to deal with it one of these days.
"Bird's eye view?" She asked, studying him for a minute. Tabby knew it wasn't smart to go off with someone she just met, even if they did seem alright. But the idea of getting her mind off things sounded wonderful. "Ok." She said, hesitantly, taking another sip of her mocha.
"Do you live at Xavier's?" Tabby finally asked, knowing that most mutants around here stayed there.

"Ya a 'birds eye view', I not mention I could fly? And ya I'm new to Xavier's school, came lookin for my cousin, Jean and she not around right now so I figure I'd stay awhile." Nate finished his drink and aimed for the garbage tossing it in from his seat. "Fellow mansion resident?" he asked curiously.

Tabby shook her head, a smile on her face. "Nope, didn't mention that." Then she crinkled her nose. "Jeanie's cousin? I'm sorry." She told him with a serious face, then she laughed. "Just kidding. And no, just missed me."
It was true, she'd been out of the mansion for a few days now. And she'd yet to see anyone she knew; then again, she hadn't been sticking around school long enough for that to happen, anyway.
((OOC: I'm gonna set this before the whole, uh...Ray incident. lol. If you don't care.))
