History: Scott spent the first seven years of his life living with his parents and younger brother, Alex. One day, while the family was flying back from vacation disaster struck, forcing the two boys to take the only parachute and jump out of the airplane. Scott suffered a head injury when they hit ground, which, some people believe, lead to his inability to control his optic beams. The two became separated and Scott presumed his brother was dead.
Scott was never adopted, shunted between foster homes around Omaha, Nebraska, especially after the age of 13 when his powers first manifested. He spent a year and a half virtually blind before the Professor found him and brought Scott to his Institute for the Gifted. Professor Xavier was the one to give Scott his ruby quartz shades, allowing him to see once again, and has become somewhat of a father figure. He met Jean Grey one year later and they became good friends.
Good fortune struck within the last year of high school when Cerebro identified a Mutant signature. The owner of that signature was near and dear to Scott, his brother, Alex. Reunited, and determined to stay so the two followed Magneto to Asteroid M and underwent an “evolution” allowing him to see the world through his own eyes once more, although not for long as he and Alex helped destroy Asteroid M that same day. He had almost lost Jean because of his own desire for control.
Alex returned to his home with his adopted family in Hawaii, he and Scott stayed in touch, leading to a visit which ended in a day at sea...in the middle of a storm.
He and Jean became an "item" as some put it, after he was abducted by Mystique and left for dead in the desert. He made it through high school, receiving his diploma, and surviving Apocalypse's attempted takeover.
Sample Post: The alarm clock blared it's angry warning, and Scott Summers opened his eyes to the familiar wine-stained world. Scott grumbled as he threw off the covers. Most other days he wouldn't mind waking up at five-thirty for the early danger room session but today wasn't one of those days. He and Jean had stayed up late last night watching a movie. Scott couldn't remember what movie they had watched but it didn't really matter. A small smile came to his mouth as he thought of Jean. He could have stayed curled up on the couch with her forever. A glance at the clock reminded him he couldn't stay in bed for forever either.
"Shoot! I'm gonna be late!" He bolted from bed and hurried to his closet to grab his training gear: uniform, boots and visor. He was never late! As the leader of the team he had to set an example, be there before everyone else or risk his friend’s sarcastic greetings of “Gee, Scott, sleeping in? What were you doing last night?” He sped through his morning ablutions, dressed and hopped down the hallway trying to push his feet into their respective boots. And then it hit him, he was still wearing his goggles. Scott hurried back to his room and grabbed his visor. Yes, his sleeping goggles wouldn't be much use in the danger room. With a movement that had become second nature he closed his eyes, pulled of the goggles and placed the visor on in its place.
