Ray shrugged; "Never remembered it," he said; "I mean, when I was moved around all the time, I just forgot it. I only remember one birthday, when I was a little kid. Me and my mom went to the zoo..." he paused as he reminised, then shrugged; "But hey, whatever today is, it's my birthday."
When they reached a familiar street corner, Ray glanced around; "And so... we wait," he said, looking at Tabby for a moment. "Ya know, for the ride to the place... you know when your birthday is?" he asked her.

Tabby listened, but didn't say anything. Ray had had a hard life, as did she and so many others. But even still, it wasn't fair...and at least she knew when her birthday was. "Alrighty. But from now on, we're celebrating your birthday on this date." She told him as she followed him to where they'd be picked up.
"Yeah." Tabby laughed as they came to a stop. "April 1." She laughed again. "My favorite holiday." She smirked as she glanced down the street.

"Dude, seriously?" Ray asked, face cracking with a smile; "Screw today, this is just belated celebrations because I'm stealing your birthday!" he laughed.
Suddenly, a van came into view, and slowed once it had turned onto the street. It flashed its lights once, on Ray, and Ray held up two fingers, held together. The van flashed its lights again, Ray lowered his hand, and the van pulled up. The door slid open.
"Where to?" someone, the driver, asked from the confines of the van.
"Wherever satelite's can't track you," Ray replied, then he climbed into the van.
"Come on!" he said, ushering for Tabby to follow.

Tabby just laughed. "We can always share." She told him, grinning.
Not even a minute later, a van pulled around the corner and Tabby's grin faded. She just stood back and let Ray take care of everything. As she waited, her mind suddenly drifted to the last time she got drunk; that outcome wasn't really a pleasant one. And if she remembered correctly, she had sworn she'd never drink again.
"Coming." Tabby said, shaking her head before following him into the van. No use thinking about that stuff now; she just wouldn't drink as much, that's all.

The van door was clsoed and it zipped off, taking them deep into downtown Bayville. It finally parked outside of a shabby building, and the door slid open again.
"Pick up's at two and four," the driver said.
"We'll be sure to catch the two," Ray told him, then he and Tabby climbed out.
Then he walked over to the door, and held it open for her; "After you," he said cordially, bowing with a smirk on his face.
Inside, there was music, a bar, a lounge, and dance area. There was a crowd tonight, all mutants, all renegades of the so-called "Society". It was a lively place. And there was no limit to anything.

"Why thank you kind sir." Tabby said, grinning, as she made her way inside. She stopped just inside though and waited for Ray. The place was pretty crowded, which meant that it was loud as well. Not that that bothered her, it was just a fact.
"Come on." Tabby said, grabbing Ray's wrist and dragging him over to the bar. She immediately ordered a drink, then glanced over at Ray to see what he was going to do.

Ray let her drag her to the bar, and the barkeep recognized him from his last visit; "Usual?" he asked, and Ray nodded. a moment later, the Barkeep brought Ray a glass of whiskey, and Tabby her drink.
With a sigh, Ray took the glass and sipped it as he looked around; "Geez, there's a lotta people here," he said, "When'd we get all these mutants here? It's just like New York City."

"Beats me." Tabby said before practically downing her drink and immediately ordering another one; so much for not drinking that much, huh? It had been a while since she had a drink anyway, and she'd missed it. Truthfully, that probably wasn't a good thing. But what did she care? It took her mind off things and that was all that mattered.
"So, does Paige know you drink as well?" Tabby asked curiously. Ray had told her she knew about everything else, but she didn't remember him mentioning drinking.

Ray snickered as he downed his drink and got another one himself; "Not really," he replied; "Come to think, I don't think she knows a lot at all. I mean, she knows stuff, sure, but," he shrugged; "I dunno. I just haven't opened up to her yet, I guess."

"Tsk tsk, Mr. Crisp." Tabby said, shaking her head before taking another sip from her drink. "'S not a good way to start off a relationship." She told him matter-of-factly as she did a quick scan of the room.
"So," Tabby said as she turned back to him. "Has Sammy lightened up any?" She asked converstationally as she took another sip.

"No," Ray said, this causing him to drink a little more than he'd intended on sipping. He coughed; "Well, he has. But his over-protectiveness is like some shadow. Or lost dog," he paused; "And what do you mean, 'bad way to start off a relationship'? It's not like I know how... she's my first girl," he admited in a hushed voice, drowning his words in his drink.

Tabby finished off her drink and ordered another one as Ray spoke. She agreed with him, Sam was way too over-protective; Paige didn't need watched over 24/7.
Tabby shrugged, taking a sip from her newly arrived drink. It was a good thing she had swallowed, otherwise she'd be wearing it. "Really?" She asked, looking at him as if in a new light. "Wow." She said quietly, taking another sip. "I don't know, I've just always heard it's best to be open or whatever." She shrugged again. "'S not like I would know anyway. I'm not open with anyone." Tabby muttered before drinking some more.

"You're open with me," Ray said, nudging her as he got another drink. Number three... he thought, though he smirked; "What, why was that so surprising?" he asked with an uneasy laugh.

"Yeah, well, you're you." Tabby said as if that explained everything. She was half-way through her third drink now and she was starting to feel a buzz, but that was nothing out of the ordinary.
"I don't know." She shrugged, sipping her drink again. It wasn't that surprising if she thought about it in the sense that he moved around a lot and then lived with the Morlocks, she guessed; Tabby just didn't think about it before.
((OOC: You lived with the Morlocks, right? Haha. Wow. Sorry, I can't remember things right now.))

((yup, sure did lol))
"Oh," Ray said, nodding; "So... we gonna sit her bein' negative, or are we gonna go out there, find two complete strangers, as 'em for a dance and throw caution to the wind, huh?" he asked, downing hsi drink, squinting his eyes a little, then getting up.
"Or should we stay 'faithful'?" he asked, laughing.
