Melody lie awake in her bed sighing. She felt the cut under her right eye and then looked down at her arm. Earlier that day she'd gotten into a fight with a girl at school. The reason? Well, Melly had gone to grab a book from the top shelf- and she could reach it; But that wasn't the point. Normally she couldn't reach the top shelf, and no, the book didn't fly in her hand... she flew to the book. People had stared at her and then a girl had yelled, "MELODY'S A FREAK! I KNEW IT!". So, once Melody was on solid ground she kicked the girl. Then the girl pulled her hair, then scratched her.
So it all led to a fighting match- which Melody won by decking the girl. Though, then, her teacher sent her to the principle's office. Melody didn't take kindly to this, so she cut school. She just hoped Jay hadn't been phoned about it yet.
She decided that she'd try this new flying thing one more time. She had to admit, it was pretty cool and she wasn't the only one in her family with powers, so she wouldn't be entirely out of the loop.
Stepping out of her bed, she concentrated on floating up. Not even centimeter did she float. She tried for a while and then finally mastered the floating part, but the flying was a tad bit off.
Opening up the window, she stepped off the sill and started to fly around the outside of the house. Hopefully, no one would notice a little girl floating outside their window. She wasn't sure if she was ready to show anyone yet...

Ray hadn't been able to sleep. It wasn't where he was sleeping, he didn't mind at all. It wasn't that he wasn't tired, because he was. But he'd been thinking, a lot.
So, getting up, he pulled on a hoodie, grabbed a few things and walked silently through the house, the only sound being his pajama bottoms and feet shuffling across the wooden floor. He got outside with relative ease, and silently sat down on the steps of the porch with a heavy sigh.
Pulling the button he'd recieved earlier out of the hoodie pocket, Ray couldn't help but shake his head at it. "Just say no to drugs" he thought.
"Might as well say Just say no to breathing" he muttered, so quiet it was barely audible.
Ray looked up then, thinking he'd seen something dart over him in the air. He just shrugged it off and debated if he should risk wondering off to smoke. He really needed a cigarette, and if it was only going to be the first one he'd had in a couple weeks, it could be excused...

Melody spotted someone under her and let out a small yelp and tumbled over and toppled down ontop of Ray. "Er- ahm sorry!" she said frantically getting up off from him and standing up. She stood there looking at him not knowing what to do now. "You're not gonna tell Jay are you?"
She was afraid of what Jay might think if he knew she could fly. She could picture him yelling and then calling a family meeting. Scary...

When Melody yelped Ray panicked, eyes flaring up as he looked skyward, only to see her falling. She landed and knocked him backward, and he saw something fly out of his pocket. Hastily moving her off of him He scrambled to pick up the abused cigarette carton, and as he sat down he looked at her.
"No," he said after he got a good look at her; "Just... don't tell anyone I brought these with me," he stuffed the cigarettes back in the pocket of his hoodie, and willed his powers to ease up. Steadily, his eyes returned to normal and he sighed.
"So... just figuring out you could do that?" he asked her as he looked up at the sky. He'd never seen stars so bright or so numerous... guess it was because there weren't any city lights around to block them out.

Melody nodded slowly and gave him a small grin. "Deal." She wasn't sure if Paige knew about this and she was starting to wonder if she should go tell her. She doubted that she did but she'd just told Ray she wouldn't tell, so snitching wouldn't be a good hing to do.
"Um... yeh. It's naht as easy as it looks..." she said rubbing her elbow that had hit the ground. She'd mostly lost her lisp and she was glad- it kinda made her sound babyish... "So... where is it thah' yah come from again? No one ever made it quahte clear to me..."

Ray sighed; "Good," he said giving her a small smile; "Where do I come from? Oh, here and there," he said, "Mainly Bayville though. That's where I met Paige, at school..." he gazed off wistfully as he thought about her then.

Melly nodded and made a confused face. Why Paige and Sam didn't just go to school here was beyond her. Was there something wrong with the school here? Well, yah, but that was beside the point."Um... What's this school for? Just wondering..."

Ray wasn't sure what to tell her. It amazed him that the Mansion was still so secretive, what with Apolcalypse and Magneto having outted the X-kids on several occasions. Then again, Melody was a mutant...
"It's for kids like us," he said finally.

She looked from side to side still with the same confused look. "How does this make it any diffrent from any other school?" This was all very ocnfusing. The flying, the school, EVERYTHING! The world was a very strange place....

"For kids like us," Ray repeated, looking at her; "For mutant kids."

"Me?" Ray asked; "Well, proper way of saying it is i can produce, harness, control, and expell electricity," he paused, smirking; "But basically, I just shock stuff. I've got pretty good control over it. Had a few power surges, but that always happens every now and then..."

Melody giggled and pictured Ray electricuting stuff. Yes, she looked at violence as something funny, but, hey. She was a kid.
She began to hover over the ground a little bit, not fully aware. Then, moving her arm just right sent her lfying backwards... dumb flying...

Ray jumped a she suddenly flew backwards, getting up and going over to her; "Uh... y'okay?" he asked her, not sure if he should help her up or let her get up on her own. Kids had to learn somehow, he just didn't know if he should be the one teaching her any life lesson
