Paige stormed out of the control deck and thought about where she could go. She could hear X23's voice from the way she'd come. The glass over her skin would prevent X23 from smelling her out, but if she went to her room someone was bound to find her. She couldn't hide in a tree, Sam was used to that sort of thing and he'd most likely track her down when he calmed down.
She suddenly remembered a place, and took off in that direction. She found the big empty room by memory, and a few wrong turns here or there, but she did find it.
The teen walked into the 'gym' as Ray had referred to it, and quietly shut the door behind. She headed toward the other side of the room, her foot steps echoing off the large walls as she went. Once their she leaned against the wall, and soon slid down onto the floor. This had to be the worst moment of her entire life, and Ray was probably never going to talk to her again. Sam was probably going to make sure Ray never spoke to her again.

Ray hadn't apologized. He ran through the halls almost blindly, retracing his steps before things had gone so horribly wrong. He hadn't even been focusing on Paige, he'd been too wrapped up in being caught off guard by Sam. He'd failed her.
Ray went to the hangar, but Paige wasn't there. He ran to the elevator, but stopped before getting into it. She wouldn't go to her room, she had run off like she didn't care where she would end up. Turning, he backtracked again. Where could she be?
He came to the Gym, perring through the large, glass windows. He slowed, looking in. They were tinted, he couldn't make out anything. With a shaky sigh, he gathered his nerves and went in.
It was dim, dark and shadowy. Ray was anxious, he was trying to keep steady and calm; "P-Paige?" he called quietly, taking a step out onto the mat, where there would be karate training if the room was in use. But now, it was just dark, and Ray didn't know what to do next. As his eyes adjusted to the lighting, he prayed he wasn't alone.

Paige's head snapped up when the door opened and she almost screamed. Training right in the middle of her personal crisis, just great. She almost yelped with relief when she heard Ray. It wasn't training, and more importantly it wasn't Sam.
It was Ray though, and what exactly was she supposed to say in this situation, well, the first thign that came to mind. "Hi Ray, how are you today?" She replied more softly but no less nervous than the first time she'd said it.

Ray jumped, head turning to the source of the noice. He saw Paige and sighed thankfully, though he was sitll shooken up. Slowly, he walked over, sitting down a few feet from her, but nevertheless, there. He stared at her for a second, then down at his hands. Finally, his face was buired in them, and he mumbled out an apology.
"I'm really, really sorry," he said, ashamed and not wanting to look at her; "It blew up. I'm really, really sorry..." he lifted his head, but still, only looked at the floor.

"So am I." She said softly. "You didn't do anything wrong, Ray. It was an accident." She looked over at him, and frowned to find him staring at the floor. "Look, I'm serious, we fell out of the chairs. If the landing had been different we'd be laughing our heads off. If Sam hadn't come in we'd be blushin' like crazy." She mumbled the last part, but everything was audible in this dark empty room.
"Well, you'd be blushing, I have my handy dandy blush protectant on... I don't think I've ever seen a guy that red." She teased with a small smile. It wasn't his fault, if he'd meant to do it he wouldn't have been this sorry about it.

Ray looked up then, smiling. "well, we all can't luck out with that," he said with a half-hearted, quiet laugh. Somehow the darkness kept things quiet, if not mute. He was afraid to make too much noise. But the guilt was still hanging over him like a stuborn rain cloud that blocked out the sun.
"You gotta admit though, Sam's face was priceless," he said, covering his mouth as he fought back a laugh or two.

Paige's small smile broke into huge grin at that and she giggled. The teen began trying freeze frame the halarious, formerly horrid, memory of her brother walking in on the little incident. "You know, I'm not sure what's funnier. You trying to apologize for falling off a chair, or Sam trying to kill you for it.
She smiled and had a sudden idea. "You know, we'd probably be safe at the movies." She suggested with a sly expression. "I mean the chairs are bolted to the floor."

Ray blinked, hand falling; "Uh... you sure?" he asked; "I mean, I'd love to catch a flick, but likeSamisubermadatmerightnowandIdon'twanttopisshimoffanymore!" he began talking fast, nerves in overdrive again, then, he sighed, composing himself; "It might sound stupid, but... I'd like to ask him first. I mean, before I asked you to go on a date with me, that is..." He thanked God for the dark, because his cheeks turned a pallid red again.

"Mmm hmm." Paige replied in a tone that hinted she was amused and put down at the same time. "Well... I guess that'd be cool. I mean he's not gonna say yes, but it least says you were tryin'." She offered with an unconvinced look on her face.
"And." She paused to look over at him with a quirky smile. "When you realize Sam's not my dad, or when you and him make up or whatever. I'd say yes to that date."

Ray blushed even more, looking down again; "Well, I just thought..." he began, but he stopped and smiled; "I mean, it just seems customary to let your friend know who you're asking, especially since the person your asking is their sister. Sam's a good friend of mine, I don't want him any angrier at me!"he laughed lightly; "That kinda sounds stupid, but uh... I'm glad you'll go on a date with me."

"Yes me too, but now we're both in the dark about when you might ask me." Paige pointed out, and then looked around the room. "So, if you're trying to gain points with Sam. May I suggest we get out of the dark room that we are currently all alone in?" She asked and blinked innocently.

Ray blinked again, then laughed uneasily; "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," he said, rising up. He then offered her a helping hand.

"Thanks." Paige chirped and took his hand then followed him out of the dark room. "So if you wanna gain points with the brother go ahead, but I think I'll be upstairs pretending he doesn't exist." She said decidedly and jabbed a thumb in the direction of the elevator.

'Don't be too hard on him," Ray said; "I bin tryin' to see it from his view. I woulda bin homicidal-pissed if I had run into that..." he paused; "Guess that's why I'm so sorry about it..." his gaze drifted for a time, then he coughed.
"Look, I'll talk to you later, okay? I should go find Sam before he finds us," he added with a light laugh. He wondered why he couldn't just flat-out lauhg, his voice never could really carry it. Ah well, he thought.

"He could have waited for an explanation of some sort." Paige grumbled. If Ray was over it, which for the record he didn't seem to be entirely so, than she could eventually deal.
"We just met, does he seriously think I'd jump down on the floor with some guy I just met?!" She questioned, and realized Ray had absolutely no idea. "Well, yeah I guess I'll see yah later. Maaaaaybe at the movies." She offered the last part in a hopeful tone.
"Later Ray." The teen smiled and waved back at him on her way to the elevator.
