The hallways were bustling with students as Roberto tried to make his way to his English class. As he was walking he passed a group of girls who were giggling rather loudly, and gathered around one girl who had a stack of brightly colored pieces of paper in her hands. Roberto decided to pay no attention to this, and continued on down the hall when one of the girls stopped him.
"Hey Roberto!" the girl called, chasing after him. He sighed and turned around to see who it was. Roberto recognized the lanky blonde from his Chemistry class.
"Whaddyou want Claire?" he asked sighing. He really didn't want to be late for English, so he hoped that whatever she had to say wouldn't take very long.
"Just to give you this," she replied, shoving one of the pieces of paper at him. Before he could say anything she turned to run off with her friends.
Grumbling, Roberto continued on his way to his class, and the minute bell quickened his pace. He glanced down at the piece of paper as he walked, which read in bold letters: ANNUAL SADIE-HAWKINS DANCE COMING UP. He stopped short. These were the dances where the girls asked the boys, which in a way was good, because it took a lot of pressure off the guys, but then again, Roberto was a little worried that he wouldn't be asked.
He crumpled up the little piece of paper and threw it over his shoulder before entering his English class. He was just being silly. There was no reason to get worked up about some stupid dance...was there?
