Ray laughed; "Oh goodie," he said airily, running a hand over his tobogan, as if he were running his fingers through his hair. "It's gonna be a ton of fun," he said with a reassuring grin; "I'll be on my "worst behavior" so they've got a reason to hunt me down," he joked.
"But I'm more worried about pleasing your mom. Your brothers might be hard, but moms are just as -if not more- important."

"No, no, no!" Paige said in an exasperated tone, and giggled. "You can be on your normal behavior, so they can deal with you whether they want to or not." She said with a smirk.
Sam didn't like Ray, and Jay probably wouldn't, and maybe even Jeb would jump into the hate the boyfriend train, but she was not going to let any of that effect her view on Ray. Unless her brothers had a reasonable, logical explanation that she should break up with him... and the likiness of an explanation that Paige would agree with? Not that likely,

Ray smirked; "I was joking," he said, laughing a little; "I'm goin' with you first and foremost... If something happens, well..." he looked away, thinking of how Sam could get his brothers to gang up on Ray and he'd wake up hanging upside down from a tree later; "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it, ya know?" he smiled again; "It'll be fine, Paige. I promise."
Though he was a little put down at the thought that she could be rethinking the whole idea.

"I know it will." Paige admitted and smiled over at him. "I'm jus' worried s'all." She explained and sighed. "For yah safety of course." The teen joked and smiled again.
It was gonna be weird no matter where her brothers met Ray, but this way they'd have a chance to get to know him. She knew her and Ray wouldn't be able to stick together 24/7, but Sam had been his friend before she showed up and her brother wouldn't ACTUALLY kill him. If they did, they'd wake up the the flaming Paige that had attacked Wanda, and then they'd be no more.

Ray laughed quietly again; "Maybe I should bring down X so she can be ready to fix me up," he said with good-nature, smiling; "Don't worry, Paige. I'm a tough guy!" he said, swelling out his chest and holding his arms up in a heroic pose. Then he relaxed and laughed again.

Paige rolled her eyes, and had a sudden thought... "Huh." She muttered allowed and grinned stupidly. "Tough guy, when's your birthday?" She questioned, looking slightly concerned while at the same time curious.

Ray had to think about that. He'd never really kept track of his birthday. Most of his Foster Parents tried to celebrate them, but Ray's birthday never came around. And time was pointless to the Morlocks...
"I don't know," he finally said, not looking at her as he blushed. It was embarassing, not knowing your own birthday; "Sometime in April... halfway through it maybe..." he looked up at her, giving her a small smile; "When's yours?"

Paige gave him a quizical look, but didn't inquire further because he seemed embarressed. "June 20th, and may I inquire as to how old you turned on this birthday?" She asked before taking a sip of her espresso. Sweet mocha.

Ray was happy he knew that one; "Seventeen," he said quietly; "Yeah, seventeen," he said more loudly with a little laugh; "I don't like keeping track of time. It's stupid to measure life, ya know? But hey, June 15th ain't that far away..." he said, a certain light flashing through his eyes for a moment.
He would get her something good, no, something GREAT. And it would be a surprise, for sure. He already had an idea what to get her.

Paige bit her lip. "Well that's not that big of a difference... I'm fifteen. Fifteen and Seventeen's huge, but I'll be sixteen in June. S'only one year." She pondered aloud.
Sam would kill if he found out his fifteen year old sister was going out with someone who was seventeen, but Ray had just turned seventeen and she was gonna be sixteen shortly.

"Why would that be a big deal?" he asked, a little perplexed. Then he came to a quick conclusion; "Well, no one has my views on life, I guess," he said with a little laugh; "It's just a year. besides, you don't act your age, I think you act older. And I don't act my age, at least I don't think I do," he said with another laugh before shrugging; "So... yeah, I..." his voice trailed off. "I don't see where there'd be a problem with age."

"The problem? It starts with an S and ends with an A-M." Paige said with a coy smile. "And the problem probably won't have a problem with just one year." She hoped he wouldn't. Because all Sam had to do was tell their mother, and all hopes of a boyfriend would end there.

Ray watched her; "Hey," he said, reaching over and taking her hand in his, elbow nudging a little vase though he didn't rightly care. "Repeat after me: It's. Going. To. Be. Okay," and then softly, he said; "It will be, on my life, I promise you."

Paige just smiled back at him and looked down at their hands. "It's gonna be okay." She finally repeated and looked outside.
"Much as I hate to, we should be getting back soon." She noted how dark it was getting, and it was almost 10. "Uh, when's curfew?"

Ray smield, squeezing her hand a little in affirmation.
"Curfew?" Ray repeated quizzically, glancing at the clock on the wall. "Uh... good question... I can get by comin' home by 10:45, so long as it's Logan who finds me," he said uneasily, laughing; "Maybe we should go?" He got up, letting go of her hand to even out his shirt and look around. The Coffee shop was still packed, since a second movie wave had come in. He didn't necessarily want to go home, but Paige had a point and he'd follow the rules.
But just for her.
