Tabby quirked an eyebrow at this. "Oh yeah, and who's going to stop me?" Then she thought about what else he had said. She wasn't really sure what he meant by it. 'Ah what the hell' She thought, taking another sip of her drink and leaning against the pool table.
"And what exatly do you mean by that?"

Ray gave un uneasy sigh, wondering why his mouth kept opening and words kept coming out; "Well, I'm not the most 'congenial' guy," he explained, glancing at her; "I mean, hell, I only like you and X, maybe Sam? That's it. There're are only a few reasons why I stay Topside, ya know? If one of 'em goes, less chance of me stickin' around. And Ororo likes having me around so she can practice on a living lightening rod," he added jokingly.
d**n, he thought, I gotta shut up. He the nrelaized it was his turn, and made a hasty attempt. The ball nearly made it in, but ricocheted and ended up knocking another in, but not in his favor.

Tabby sighed as she took her turn, thinking about what he said. Now she'd feel guilty if she left; which she'd seriously been considering lately. Unsure of what to say, she laughed it off altogether.
"I know what you mean, I'm about the same way." She said, leaning against her pool stick again and glancing up at the ceiling. "Well, other than being a living lightening rod, that is."
Her laugh was short lived and it suddenly became quiet. She glanced over at him to watch his next move.

Ray smiled slightly, glad to hear Tabby laugh. Seeing her upset or moody made him worry. That meant something had to have happened. But it was cut off as she watched him.
"Hey, I guess it gives me the chance to figure out what I'm all about," he said, idly watching his hand as he popped his knuckles; "Wanna get outta here? This game isn't gettin' anywhere," he added with a light laugh.

"Sure." Tabby said, smiling at him and tossing the pool stick onto the table. "Any place in mind?"

"Not really," Ray said with a sigh, "d**n ADD," he muttered with a laugh. "I can't think of anything."

Tabby laughed as well. "Uh, we could go to the park, or there's the mall..." She stopped and looked at him, a thought just entered her mind. "How 'bout a road trip?"

Ray laughed; "My crotch couldn't handle a road trip," he said; "We'd need a car. Malls too much of a hang-out, and the cops watch it likea hawk. Park sounds okay if that's what you're up for."

Tabby laughed at Ray's bluntness and then shrugged. "Sounds good to me." She finished off her drink and tossed it in a nearby trashcan before heading back over to where Ray was standing. "Ready?"

Ray nodded, and they had soon left Nothing and were on the road. It took Ray twenty minutes, but they got there. He parked his bike, and got off, waiting for Tabby. He didn't come to the park often. Looking around, he only saw a few mothers with their kids ,adn an old couple feeding pidgeons. It was too cliche.
"Lead the way," he said, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it.

Tabby slid off the bike and came to stand beside him. She noticed him pull another cigarette out and frowned. Looking away from him, she stuffed her hands in her pockets and looked around. The place was dead. Sighing, she started walking toward the pond.
Once there, she sat down along the bank and pulled her legs up to her chest and rested her head on her knees. She watched the ducks swimming in the water and created a small bomb, tossing it in and watching them scatter.
Tabby then turned to Ray. "So."

Ray sat down beside her, offering her the cigarette. "What's on your mind?" he asked her.
He didn't normally care about other people, or their problems. But Tabby had grown on him, and he was always a little wary whenever she wasn't acting wild and crazy.

Tabby took the cigarette and took a drag from it before handing it back to him. She shrugged, not really sure herself. She figured a lot of it had to do with her father being released from prison, but part of it also had to do with her current living arrangements. She hadn't really been getting along very well with anyone at the Institute and she was starting to miss the living habits of the Brotherhood.
"This and that." She finally said, laying back on the grass and staring at the sky. "It's nothing."
She felt stupid for having this fear of her father, and she didn't want to sound weak in front of Ray. So, she decided to change the subject.
"So, how many days till Christmas?" This was her failed attempt at casually changing the subject. She groaned and tossed another one of her bombs into the pond.

Ray watched anothe cluster of ducks scatter, taking a drag; "This and that, huh?" he asked; "I get it," he looked at her then; "And Christmas can't come quick enough," he said jokingly.
Ray had once heard Ororo and XAvier talking about Tabby's dad, something about him being released from prison or soemthing... Ray hadn't really paid attention, he was too busy watching how he breathed (he had been sneaking out, or trying to, at the time) but that might have been what was bothering Tabby. He wasn't sure if he should ask. He preferred his past undisclosed, Tabby probably felt the same about her own.

Tabby laughed, snatching the cigarette away from Ray and taking another drag. "Yeah. You staying at the mansion over break?" She asked, watching a plane flying overhead. She doubted she'd be going home this year. Or ever.
