(( THIS IS A THREAD FOR PAIGE AND ME ONLY!!!! *so no Sam you can't barge into this one* lol))
It was almost lunch time, the crowds were coming in, activity was picking up. People laughed and talked over their coffee, salads, soups and sandwiches. They were oblivious.
Ray sat in a booth, viewing the street, the sun hitting him but he didn't care. He hadn't slept, and had spent the night thinking, and thinking, and thinking. Sitting in his booth, his arms laid out on the table, a coffee cup in his hands, he was a tired wreck. He wore a dark blue long sleeve shirt, his thumbed poking through holes in the sleeves, keeping the shirt down to his knuckles. His hair was a little unkempt; he hadn't had it in him to style it after his shower; so he just wore a tobogan and his bangs were just orange tresses weaving together and blocking out his forehead. He hadn't even bothered refreshing his earpiercings.
Everyime the door would open and that bel lwould tingle, Ray would look up, but Paige had yet to come. So, he resigned himself to waiting.

The bell tingled briefly and stopped as Paige opened the door part way and then shut it. She tooked a deep breath and went into the establishment. Spotting Ray she had half a mind to run off and pretend she'd forgotten all about the meeting. Instead she made her way over to his booth and slid in across from him.
"Hello." She said as if it was a business meeting of some sort. Paige had tried focusing on her feelings, but all of the feelings at once made it confusing and almost painful. After the feelings hadn't worked she had tried rehersing a conversation, but that just felt stupid and she figured it wouldn't be as easy to talk with Ray there instead of a mirror. After all else failed she'd considered going to Sam, but that would no doubt turn into an argument and she already had his opinion. So she figured she would just let him start the conversation.

Ray looked up, his eyes flashing with a little bit of hope, and Paige walked in. He was quiet, looking back down as she came over and sat, and was quiet.
"I..." he started, looking up at her with tired, sad hazel eyes; "I dunno what to say, Paige. Sorry doesn't cut it... I feel horrible... I lied to you, I broke a promise I swore I'd keep. It doesn't matter how it happened, it just did..." he closed his eyes for a moment, then averted his gaze to look out the window; "But I know it was a mistake. I know that it meant nothing. I love you Paige." he looked at her again; "A kiss won't ever change that... but I'd understand if it changed how you feel about me. I'm a crappy boyfriend..." he looked down.

Paige nodded and stared at the cuff of her jean jacket while he continued. He looked up at her and she met his gaze for a moment before returning her stare to the cuff. Her skin had been very weird since the previous night. It wasn't dry but it held the same dull tint as if it were about to shed. Ray was done talking, and she couldn't just stare at her skin and expect him to come up with something else.
"You hurt me." She told him before taking a gulp and looking up at him and biting her lip in an attempt to keep the cool exterior. "You hurt me, and if there's ever been a time I agree with Sam about our relationship its now." She informed him in a higher pitch than usual, still maintaining a somewhat calm exterior. "I would be just so pleased if my feelings for you have flown out the window last night, but they won't. I don't even think I'd want them too if I had the choice."
Paige looked up at the ceiling and exhaled slowly. "I swore to myself that if any of my boyfriends ever cheated on me that'd be it. It's not under any circumstances okay!" She snapped in anger. "It hurts." She repeated slowly. "It hurts not knowing why Tabby. It hurts not knowing where we went wrong. It hurts because its so sudden. It hurts because you lied to me. It hurts because I don't know if you would have even told me if Sam hadn't. The whole thing hurts, Ray." She went on explaining things to him and not keeping anything hidden. She wasn't going to hide her feelings because that wasn't going to help anyone. "But do you know what hurts most?" She asked and raised her eyebrows.
"That you are the one that caused this. That I can't get you out of my head or my heart like I could the people that insult us at school. I can't blow you off because I love you, and I can't run into your arms because you are the one that hurt me." Paige took a deep breath and exhaled again. She looked at her arm and noticed what she thought would be dry skin was actually wet. Her whole arm looked like she'd been soaking it in water...

Ray felt his eyes watering. he hated himself now more than ever, he really did; "I know it's not okay," he said softly, his voice somehow hoarse because his throat was raw; "And I don't know why it was Tabby... we were both drunk, Paige! We decided I needed to celebrate for a birthday I didn't even know I had... it got out of hand. I was taking her to get food so we could sober up, because we'd gone to far, when she tripped and... and..." he closed his eyes to stop himself.
"It's my fault," he said; "My fault I couldn't stick to a promise, couldn't straighten out. It's my fault your hurting. It's my fault we're sitting here... You didn't do anything at all, don't think that you did... I'm... I'm a mess, Paige. I always have been. But... but you being in my life is helping, So why do I keep messing up?" the question was more to himself than her, "I've been trying to face facts and grow up. I should have been telling you everything I've been doing... I've been tying up a lot of loose ends, but it's built up... So I went out to just forget and then everything hit the fan!" again, he stopped, hands leaving his coffee cup to rub his eyes, before the tears could fall.
"Paige, I would have told you," he said, staring her straight in the eye; "I wouldn't have kept that from you. What I have kept from you is this : that I've been dealing with my mom and smoking to cope. That's it. But there's huge things, and for that I'm sorry..." he looked away to rub his eyes again, "But sorry doesn't cut it, Paige. I dunno what to do, but I'll do anything. Anything."

"For starters, you talking to Tabby and not me is not wrong." Paige paused to glanced out the window before she leaned toward him with a finger point at him. "I love you." She said quietly, and then slapped him. "Don't do this stupid stuff. It scares me, and it hurts both of us." She said in the same level tone before leaning over and kissing him.
Maybe forgiving Ray was wrong in someone's book, and maybe she should have been moving on and dealing with getting over Ray rather than getting over this situation. Perhaps kissing him was wrong too, but most reason left when he was sitting there practically begging forgiveness. That was why she hadn't broken up with him when he got high the first time and that was why she couldn't break up with him after he'd gotten high and kissed someone she considered a friend.

Ray was stunned when she slapped him, but even more stunned when she kissed him. He didn't feel like he was worthy; he wouldn't until he felt things had been made right. But when they parted, he merely stared at her.
"Stupid stuff equals no, got it." he said, forcing a smile though he still felt terrible; "I love you, I'm gonna get better, I promise."

"You don't really have a choice." Paige pointed out with a half smile of her own. "And I need you to talk to Sam." She decided and folded her arms on the table. "Because he isn't okay with you, and I'm not gonna give up my relationship with my older brother. I've said all I can think of to get him to be okay with us and everytime he almost is something seems to pop up. Sam's opinion of you is just as important to me as anyones, if not more so."
Paige glanced up at the menu and stood up. "I'm gonna go grab a coffee." She decided and nodded. "Yup. Coffee it is." The blonde informed herself before walking over to the counter.

Ray's eyes widened, and he just resigned himself to silence when she got up and walked away. Talk to Sam? Him and Sam never could "talk". They always ended up arguing. When she got back, Ray looked at her.
"What can I say?" he asked; "Everytime I try, we argue..."

"Oh you probably won't have to talk much. Sam's probably got quite a bit to say to you right about now. He was here for like a year before I showed up, didn't you guys ever talk?" Paige questioned incredulously and took a sip of her coffee.

Ray shrugged; "I've changed a lot," he said distantly; "We did, but, ya know," he shrugged again; "It wasn't over serious stuff."

"Well now it is." She replied with a shrug. Paige took a sip of her coffee and set it down, staring at her hand "I'm wet..." She said with disbelief in her eyes. Her entire arm looked like it had been soaked in water... except the water seemed to come from her skin rather than repel off it.
The condition of her skin explained why it hadn't been dry... but she had a feeling wet skin wasn't where this was gonna stop. "Uuuh, you wanna walk and talk?" She asked aprehensivly and stared awkwardly at her arm.

Ray watched her face turn with worry, and he followed her gaze; "Yeah," he said, rising; "I'd offer you a hand, but I don't wanna shock us both..." he gave her a sympathetic look. He really didn't feel like hurting her more.

"Mmm." Paige murmered and squinted at her own hands. Any mutations disabling a girl from holding her own boyfriend's hand was a curse... or perhaps it was a warning. 'You don't get a say in who I date.' She thought and scowled at her hands, or rather her mutation.
"Don't worry about it." She told Ray and drank a good ammount of mocha before throwing the half empty cup away and making a bee line for the door.

Ray followed her; "I just don't wanna shock you is all," he repeated, "So... what do you want to talk about? Kentucky, the Weather... music, life?" he laughed good-naturedly as he looked around at the grey day.
