Paige grinned evilly, but leaned her head down on his chest with a contented sigh. "Hmm." She thought aloud. "Hmm hmm hmm... Well, don't hate me if you don't wanna answer, just say so I'll think of a new question." She muttered and looked up at him with an aprehensive look.
After the experience with asking about X's name she was a bit jumpy around any mutant subject. "What did you do when you found out about your powers?"

Ray stopped for a second, looking at her. "Well," he said, continuing to walk; "I was about eight... I kinda took the electric energy out of the phone. It was wild. I ended up damaging the house," he said with a light laugh; "Can I ask you the same question? With the same back-up plan, of course," he added with a little smile.
"And like that would even make me annoyed with you."

"Kay." Paige replied with a cute little smile. Thinking back and grinning. "Well, you of course are going to have to swear to god not to tell anyone, mostly Sam... He'd probably have a heart attack." She said with a small giggle, and felt her cheeks heating up.
"I woke up with a sunburn, at least I though so, and yah know getting a sunburn over night is a bit strange. So I skipped school for the first time in my life, went down to the swimming hole and found this weird glass substance under my skin. I flipped out, sobbed, cursing everyone I knew. Mostly Sam 'cause he was a mutant first, and then I fell asleep. I woke up..." She paused and pretended to be examining her hand.
"In the Rain... normal other than the fact I had freckles. I was able to hide it for a while, Melody knew something was up since she caught me sneaking in a few times, but other than that it was a secret 'til Xavier showed up.

"Really?" Ray asked, "Hmm, maybe those freckles shoulda stuck around?" he said with a little laugh as he set her down. he quickly rolled his shoulders, and then held her hand; "It doesn't surprise me you hid it like you did. You're smart like that," he paused; "And I won't tell Sam. I'm not one to gossip like X or Amara," he chuckled again.
"So... it's my turn..." he mused, looking up and around as they continued to walk. Looking back he saw the coffee shop was in sights; "Ooh, I got it! What sounds better, mocha or vanilla?"

"Mmmmmocha." Paige announced, dragging out the first letter. "Which sounds better a thunderstorm or a sunny day?" She questioned and thought about looking out the attic window at home, watching lightning dance across the sky and listening to the slight whimpering of the younger kids as it was drowned out by roaring thunder.

"Dude, thunderstorm!" Ray said, shivering at the thought; "Those things are crazy awesome."
They entered the coffee shop, and approached the counter. "Know what ya want?" Ray asked as he skimmed the menu. He would probably get his usual chai coffee, the only thing (ironically) he could drink from this store that wouldn't throw his electolites out of whack. Maybe it was the chai, he didn't question it.

"Mocha espresso." Paige said with smile. "Mmmm." She mumbled in a happy voice.
"So what happens to you during a thunder storm? Though, I think its your turn to ask a question." She glanced out the window behind them and then look down at her hands. Normal hands, nothing shiney peeking out... that was good news.

"Chai coffee," Ray ordered, then he gave Paige a smirk; "I get really, really hyper," he said, laughing; "It's like caffeine for me. I can literally feel all the electricity in the air. You've no idea how charged up things get!" he was getting excited just talking about thunderstorms. " And normally I can tell when a big storms comin', and then you'll see me out in the yard like some crazy retard runnin' 'round tryin' to get shocked!" he laughed quietly. "I guess I never was right in the head," he drawled wistfully, shaking his head.

Paige giggled at the thought of Ray running around trying to get electrocuted. "Amusing." She managed, and giggled again. "Sounds great." She muttered, trying to compare it to Lewis or Scarlet when they'd got into the caffinated coffee. "Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll rain when we go home... then again my entire family would think you were nuts."

Ray laughed quietly, not replying until they'd gotten their coffee and headed over to a table to sit down; "I think I can handle that," he said good-naturedly; "Wait... your folks knows I'm coming, right?" he asked, suddenly nervous. He'd be meeting Paige's parents! He wondered if they would be okay with him being a mutant, or a punk, or if they were even cool with Paige dating at all.

"Yeah." Paige said quietly and nodded. "I told her... I left out the part about... well I mighta told her you were a good friend." The teen admitted and stirred her mocha around with a stirring straw. "My dad passed away about a year ago, so I didn't ask him." She offered, trying to change the subject before Ray got mad.

"Oh," Ray said, nodding. Then, his heart sank a little at what she said next; "I'm sorry, Paige, I had no idea..." he said quietly, sipping on his coffee before he looked out the window for a moment. So they had both lost fathers... another similarity. Not a good one, still but a common reality. He looked at her again with a small smile, a reassuring one, he hoped.
"That could explain why Sam's so protective," he mused with a little laugh.

"He is the..." Paige paused and glanced over at Ray. "Second oldest... Jay's not quite as quiet as Sam... I mean when it comes to being polite, but he's kinda quiet solemn like..." The teen trailed off trying to figure out what exactly she could say with scaring Ray to death.
"Alright I have eight siblings, counting Sam, and Jay's the oldest. He's quiet and likes to keep to himself around a lot of people, but someone I don't think Paige's first boyfriend fits into that category." She decided honesty was the key to eeevery relationship... and she didn't know what else to say.

"Eight? Really? Wow!" Ray said with a small smile; "Wait, this mean I'll have two Guthries stalkin' me?" he laughed good-naturedly, but he wondered if she'd find any humor in it.
((okay i was sorta confused so that's all I could saw lol))

Paige scrunched her nose and nodded with a mock frown. "Yes, 'fraid so. First is Jay, seventeen, and then Sammy, sixteen. The rest of them are munchkins, but not quite harmless." She explained with a smile. Paige loooved referring to all her younger siblings as midgets. Even though a few of them were pretty much her height, MAYBE a little taller.
