Roberto stopped short when he heard Sam's question. Why did Apocalypse want Roberto to come with him? If he wasn't able to score the five goals, did that mean he would have to leave the Institute and join Apocalypse?
He stood, square with Apocalypse, the flames of energy lapping silently around his body as he thought. He decided to wait to hear Apocalypse's answer to Sam's question. It was something he wanted to find out before he participated in any kind of challenge with such a powerful mutant. Besides, he was curious as to how playing soccer with a teenager wasn't a waste of his time.

As Apocalypse stopped and answered the young mutants question. " I have been watching all of mutantkind looking fo rthe best of them and waiting for them to be able to stand to my challenge, and this is yours." Apocalypse walk toward Roberto and asked him." Have you ever wondered what it's like to fight for something more than just peace?"

A chill went through Jubilee's spine as she heard Apocalypse's question. She wasn't quite sure exactly what he meant by fighting for something other than peace, and that scared her. She thought about running to the mansion, or telling someone to go get help, but for some reason she had no control over her body, and she froze. All she could do was watch.

"Whaddyou mean something besides peace? What else is there?" Roberto asked catiously. So Apocalypse didn't consider him above average after all. He was just testing every mutant and he happened to be next on the list. This hurt Roberto's pride a little, but being selected by Apocalypse himself would have overinflated his ego anyway.

" You missunderstand my child. I have come to test only the best mutantkind has to offer. To fight for your freedom on this planet. The freedom to be alive, and not feared." Apocalypse lifts the ball into the air and it turns into a globe. " This is for your my child." The globe comes alive with images of times in the past where even normal humans had to fight fo rwhat they belived. "You see everyone has that fight in there lives."
As Apocalypse lets Roberto look at the globe he turns toward the other two mutants only feet from him. " And YOU have you fought for something of that importance?"

Roberto stood, mesmerized by the floating globe and what Apocalypse was saying. So Apocalypse did consider him worthy after all, but what did he mean by fighting to be free? Sure there were a few exceptions, like not being able to use his powers in public, but Roberto considered himself pretty lucky.
"So if I don't win this, what does it mean to you?" he asked thougtfully.

Jubilee could not bring herself to answer Apocalypse's question. Maybe she hadn't ever really fought for something of importance. This didn't sit well with her. She looked at Roberto who was focusing on the globe. She was scared for him. As she began to feel very insignificant, she glanced over at Sam who had been very quiet the entire time. "You ok?" she asked him completely ignoring Apocalyses question altogether.

Sam had been quiet. Not knowing what to say. He was afraid of Apocalypse, He had beaten the professor at one point, Plus Mystique, Magneto and Storm. His name just added more to the effect. He was surprised by the globe, but was at a loss of words as Apocalypse spoke to he and Jubilee. It was somewhat of a confusing question. Sam had fought for the X-Men, But was that what Apocalypse meant?
The confused teen heard Jubilee say something to him and his blue eyes turned to look over at her. He nodded, and muttered a small bit jibberish. He wasn't sure if he would be able to speak if he tried. It probably wouldn't make sense if he tried to.

Jubilee looked at Sam. He said something to her, but she couldn't quite understand it. she was glad to see that she wasn't the only one who had been caught off guard by this situation.

As Apocalypse stared over at the two younger mutants. " You see Roberto they fear the coming of the future, but you still stand here." Apocalypse brought the globe back to him, and changed it back into the bright ball that it once was. " Are you ready to begin our game?" Apocalypse looked over at the still silent younger mutants. " If you wish to joi you may, but you must give it all you have."

Roberto nodded vigorously. There was no way he was going to back out now. Even if he didn't have a chance he was still going to give it everything he got.
"Let's do this," he said quietly, not making eye contact with Sam or Jubilee, and focusing on the glowing orb.

Jubilee winced at Apocalypse's suggestion. Should she join? She looked at Sam. If he was in, she was definately in!! She's usually not one to sit on the sidelines. "So Sam...whaddayou think??" Jubilee questioned sam eagerly, looking intently at the people around her, more in particular Roberto.. If something were to happen to him, she didn't know what she would do.
